Harold walked along the route, trying to stay alert of his surroundings. If there was one thing he hated, it was traveling to a new city on foot. There was no telling what was waiting ahead, but he pushed those thoughts away, reminding himself mentally that this is Johto, not Orre. For the first time in over a decade, he should not have to worry about being arrested. He finally pushed the thoughts of paranoia aside as he came across a crossroads. One path continued down the main road, while the other was more of a hiking trail, but judging by a sign, still led to Violet City. Bagon looked at his trainer, waiting for his reaction.

"Right, we're gonna take the other path," Harold said, and walked down the hiking trail. Even though there was nothing to worry about, he always liked being safe. It was the only reason he has not been arrested yet. Bagon nodded, and followed his trainer down the path. Harold took a quick look at the sky, and saw Gligar gliding above them. As part of his plan, Gligar had a bird's eye view of the route. If anything was coming from ahead or behind, he would find out.

The information rolled once again past Amanda's scanner. Her next target was an ex criminal who had left Orre, likely to evade authorities. She had a little sympathy for an ex criminal like him who was likely trying to get on with his life, but the only thing that really mattered to her was getting the money for her sister's treatment.

---Target: Harold Grimes. Wanted for: crimes committed as a member of team Snagem. By: The government of Orre---

She had been searching Johto for Harold Grimes based on a lead she got from one of her local fences. She learned that he was headed in the direction of Violet City, but she'd seen no sign of him so far. She was ready to give up waiting in her treetop perch when she saw it, a Gligar gliding on the wind high above the ground.

"There we go." Amanda said adjusting herself to take better cover behind the branches of the tree. "If that Gligar is Harold's, then I've got the perfect spot for an ambush. Shadow, Smaug, Thunda', you'll be the main team for this, get ready."

Shadow, the Haunter, disappeared into the shadows of the trees while Amanda removed two Poké Balls from her belt. Harold was to be brought in alive, and she had the perfect spot for an ambush along the path. She knew the Gligar would see the flash of a poké ball release, so she'd just have to stick to the shadows and wait for her target to get into position. She wasn't going to let that Gligar see her until she wanted. Now all she had to do was wait.

"This was a bad idea," Harold thought out aloud as he ducked under another tree branch. Turns out the path he took was covered with trees. He could get by easily with Sneasel cutting the branches, but that was not an option. He only had Bagon right now, and he was not wanting to start a forest fire. Luckily, they came up on a small clearing, which would give them time to rest. To make things better, he thought of an idea to plan his way ahead.

"Give me a minute, Bagon," Harold ordered, walking up to a tree, looking at the branches. “This one will work." He grabbed a branch low from the ground, and pulled himself up, repeating the process to climb the tree. Once he got high enough, he looked ahead, trying to find the easiest way across. Gligar was told to look out for people, and not the best path. With no alarm from Gligar, he assumed it is safe enough to pull off a stunt like this.

"What an idiot, It's like he's not even trying to stay hidden. Although why would he if he didn't know he was being followed."Amanda whispered to the darkness next to her, "Well, lets get this party started."

Amanda had been carful to stay hidden so far, keeping her eyes on the soaring Gligar, but now her target was in range, and up a tree of all places. Amanda prepped herself for the battle that was about to begin. Her target was completely vulnerable to a sneak attack, but he still was needed alive. Shadow was in position to take the first shot, but neither of them thought it would be this easy. Amanda lifted her hand and gave a silent signal after the gligar had made one more pass.

"Hau-ha-ha-ha," Shadow let out a quiet laugh as he emerged quickly from the shadows a shadow ball already formed in his hands. "Haun-Ter!" He let out as he launched the dark orb.

The shadow ball then blasted through the tree Harold was in causing it to come crashing down into the clearing. The sound of two more Poké Balls releasing then sounded from Amanda's hiding place.

As Harold started to climb down the tree, he nearly lost his grip from the impact of the attack. As the tree started to fall back, he lets go of the tree branches, falling down on his back. He groaned in pain, and while nothing was broken, there was going to be bruises. He then quickly rolled to the side despite the pain as the tree collapsed on the ground he was on. He sat up against the tree, seeing two flashes of white as Pokémon were released. He frowned, realizing that he had let his guard down, and was now in a middle of an ambush. Yet, he did not see any trainer.

"Well, looks like we got a coward hiding in the shadows," Harold noted aloud as he stood up in pain, cracking his knuckles. "Well, I'm no coward. Bagon, Dragon Breath, now!" Bagon nodded as he jumped in front of his trainer, facing their opponents. He opened his mouth, and released a light blue fireball towards the enemy. Bagon was good when it came to battle, but Harold knew that the Rock Head Pokémon had his limits. Gligar was going to be needed to help fend off the ambush.

However, Gligar was not going to help Bagon in the battle. He instead flew towards the Haunter that attacked the tree Harold was on. He flew lower than usual, hoping to catch his opponent off guard. As the Fly Scorpion flew closer, he quickly flew up, and threw his tail towards his enemy with a Feint Attack.

As Smaug and Thunda' materialized, Thunda' was hit square in the face by the fast approaching blue fireball. Smaug simply watched in confusion as his partner was the only one of them to get hit.

"EEEELECTABUZZ!" Thunda' roared in pain and anger. As the smoke from the blast cleared his face was wrought with rage.

"HAU-HAU-HAU," Shadow laughed hysterically, unaware of the Gligar approaching from below. He was quickly stabbed by the feint attack and launched back into the shadowy foliage as he continued to laugh, unaware of what had really just happened.

"Would you idiots focus on the miss-" Amanda's thoughts were immediately cut off when she heard Harold refer to her as a coward. "WHAT DID YOU CALL ME YOU STUPID FOOL!?!" She screamed as she launched out of the treetops taking a shot at Harold's feet. "Let's see how long it is before you start running." Amanda sneered as she landed in between Smaug and Thunda', "Then we'll see who the real coward is."

With a quick hand signal from Amanda, Smaug launched a series of smokescreens covering the area in a hazy smoke. Thunda' proceded to let out shouts of anger as he began launching thunderbolts through the smoke at Bagon and Harold. Shadow was still in the foliage, but his laughing had ceased. The battle was now beginning, and Amanda and her team were going to complete their mission no mater what.

"Good hit, Bagon," Harold encouraged with a smile. "Now, we just ha---" He was interrupted by a gunshot, letting out a yelp as the bullet hits the ground between his feet. He jumped up in surprise, tripping over the tree and landing on his back, groaning in pain. He stood up, having regret saying that his opponent was a coward. He broke one of his rules, although he did not know. Still, there was now some crazy lady who was out to get him. As he was in thought, the smokescreen covered the clearing, and a thunderbolt hit Bagon directly.

"Damn," Harold muttered, letting out a cough as he inhaled some smoke. "Bagon, new plan. Run like hell!" He quickly turned around, and burst into a sprint, hoping to have the smoke cover his escape. However, Bagon was not ready to run just yet. Still facing his enemy, he shot another Dragon Breath attack towards where his enemies were last seen before the smoke covered the clearing. While it could be assumed Bagon was covering his trainer's retreat, the truth was he was just looking for a fight.

Meanwhile, Gligar flew higher, and looked down at the clearing, now covered in smoke. He looked for his trainer, but did not find him. Gligar flew closer to the smoke, still keeping his guard up. The Haunter was able to escape, and could attack at any moment. Flying closer, the Fly Scorpion Pokémon saw a light blue fireball launched, and figured it must be Bagon. His tail started to glow white as it fired several Poison Sting needles towards the field where the fire was launched, hoping to join in on the battle.

"Hmph, look at him," Amanda sneered as she watched Harold panicking through her scanner. "He's already gonna try and run. Smaug, deal with him, Thunda', you deal with the Bagon. Shadow can handle the Gligar when he comes around."

Before any of Amanda's Pokémon could carry out the plan, another blue fireball hissed through the air towards Thunda'. This time he was ready for it and simply stepped to the side to avoid it. With another shout he charged into the smoke towards the spot the blast originated from ready to deliver a potent Ice Punch.

Smaug began circling his way around the clearing when a hail of poison stings began raining from above, stoping him in his tracks. "Mag-Mag-Mar." He let out in a frustrated panic. Smaug knew it was his job to stop Harold from escaping, so he began to formulate a plan on what to do.

As the Gligar rained down a fury of stings Shadow had come around and managed to asses the situation. With no warning a shadowy hand shot from the smoke and grabbed Gligar's tail. Directly following the hand came the rest of Shadow launching from the smoke, a Shadow Punch readied in his fist.

"HAU-HAU-HAU!" Shadow began laughing once again as he propelled his fist towards the Gligar in his clutches.

Harold dashed through the forest, the smoke and battle now behind him. His plan was to run around the corners, taking turns at different times. He dashed to the left, not looking back. With this strategy, he should be able to evade any trackers by running around unpredictably. As he took a turn to the right, he realized the only flaw with his plan was that he may outrun Bagon. He looked over his shoulder, and did not see his Pokémon. He sighed, but continued running, hoping that his team would catch up with him.

The Dragon Breath attack slammed into the tree, setting it ablaze. Bagon was confused, wondering how the attack did not hit his opponents. Then, he is slammed by a fist, letting out a yelp of pain as he feels cold from the hit. He glared at the Electabuzz, and opened his mouth again. A stream of red fire came out from his mouth as he started an Ember attack.

Gligar was taken by surprised the sneak attack, and crashed into the ground from the force of the Shadow Punch. He slowly stood up, shaking in pain, but spread out his wings once more, preparing to take flight again. As he glided through the air, the Flying Scorpion Pokémon picked up speed, charging up an Acrobatics attacked. He slammed into Haunter, and proceeded to lash out at his opponent with both claws and tail.

"What'd I say? The cowards already running away, and he left behind his pokémon thinking they'd catch up." Amanda scoffed at the forest where Harold had darted. "But they aren't going anywhere. Shadow, give them a Mean Look so the don't run after their trainer."

Picking himself of the ground from the Gligar's acrobatics, Shadow's eyes began to glow, instilling a sense of dread in Gligar and Bagon that would prevent them from leaving the battle until it ended. Amanda may not have had Harold in the fight, but she was going to have his Pokémon, which would work as a nice way to lure him out.

"All right you guys. It's time we showed these Pokémon what we are made of." Amanda called out triumphantly.

As the Bagon let lose its flamethrower, Smaug jumped between it and Thunda', letting out his own intense flames. As the two Pokémons' flames connected, Thunda' ran around the pair towards the Bagon with another ice punch readied. Shadow once again turned his attention to the Gligar who was coming in again with more attacks. Shadowed readied a shadow ball in his hands as the Gligar swooped in.

Bagon quickly backed away from the Ice Punch, closing his mouth to help him dodge the attack. Even though he was still up, the punch was very painful, and another hit or two of an ice attack would probably bring him down. Then again, going up against two Pokémon at once was not going to go well. Still, the Rock Head Pokémon decide if anything was going to happen, he was going down fighting. Bagon charged forward, head first, as he tried to Headbutt either one of his opponents.

Gligar knew that there was no escape, and that they were going to lose the battle. Still, the least he can do is give his trainer the best escape. Even for a criminal, Harold always did care for his team, and the Fly Scorpion Pokémon was glad for that. Out of the three Pokémon, it was the Haunter that would be able to track down the thief due to the ghost type. As he flew towards his opponent, Gligar glided below, avoiding the Shadow Ball, swinging his tail towards with another Feint Attack.

"They're not coming," Harold thought aloud to himself as he took cover behind a tree. "They're holding them off." He closed his eyes, holding back a tear. Both Bagon and Gligar were given to him during his time in Snagem, so he assumed that they were stolen from their trainers. Yet, here they are, willing to protect him from some crazy lady with a gun. Harold would never expect it out of Sneasel, and she was his closest friend. As he started to think, he realizes he has a decision to make. Should he keep running, or go back for his team?

As the Gligar pierced the what he thought was Shadow, the double teamed image disappeared. "Hau-hau-hau, Haun-Ter!" Haunter cackled as he let lose a shadow ball from the shadowy trees where he'd retreated to. Shadow was easily proving himself to be Amanda's most efficient Pokémon today. "Keep up the good work Shadow." Amanda shouted encouragingly for Shadow's good work.

Knowing that Shadow had the situation under control, she turned her attention towards Thunda', Smaug, and the Bagon. "As for you to idiots. Get it in gear!" Smaug and Thunda exchanged a quick glance that lasted long enough for the Bagon to land a Headbutt directly on Smaug. "Ugh, you've got to be kidding me." Amanda groaned in dismay at the sight of her Pokémon having problems in a two on one fight."Here's an idea. Why don't you, WORK TOGETHER!?" Amanda shouted, clearly frustrated.

"EEEEE-LECTABUZZ! Thunda' boomed as Smaug got to his feet next to him. They were finally ready to give this fight their all. Thunda' began strengthening with Bulk Up as Smaug readied a potent Fireblast. In tandem Thunda' used Flash to blind their opponent as Smaug took his shot. They weren't about to lose to a Bagon in front of their trainer.

Gligar was shocked to see that the Haunter was merely just an illusion. The shock was replaced by pain as a Shadow Ball hit his back, almost sending the Fly Scorpion Pokémon crashing to the ground. At the last second, he steadied himself, gliding on the wind once more. Gligar started to realize that his opponent was running out of tricks, and that he needed to take advantage of it now. He pointed his tail at what he assumed was his opponent, and fired several Poison Stings in that direction.

Bagon took a couple of steps back after the successful Headbutt. As much as he wanted to take them on both at once, he knew that he had to stick back and do hit-and-run attacks. Bagon prepared to dodge the fire, but a bright light caught him off guard. The Rock Head Pokémon closed his eyes, taking the Fireblast. Shaking it off, he tried to open his eyes, but only saw a bright light. In anger, Bagon let loose another Dragon Breath blindly, hoping to surprise his enemies.

"That's it, I'm going back," Harold declared, seeing a bright light and smoke coming from the direction of the clearing. "For once in my life, I'm gonna fight back! Time to show this gunslinger who she is messing with!" He sprinted back towards the clearing, thinking up of a plan as he ran. He pulled out a small grappling hook from out his tool pouches, wrapping the coil of rope around his arm. Harold never carried a weapon on him since a good thief did not need one, and this was the closest thing he had to one. He just hoped he was not too late.

Amanda and Shadow both noticed a newfound confidence appear in the Gligar's eyes. He knew that Shadow had shown most of his arsenal and he was still mobile. Shadow gave a quick glance towards Amanda to reassure her that he had the situation under control as the toxic needles approached. Thunda' and Smaug seemed to have the Bagon's back against the wall and were now forcing it to go on the defensive. Amanda though this would be a good time to fall back into the shadows.

"Hau-hau-hau" Shadow cackled as he began blocking the poison stings with his free hand as he threw more Shadow Balls with his other. The poison stings were no match for his dual typing and barely hurt enough for him to care. The only problem was that the barrage of needles would cut through any copies he made with double team. Shadow decided to take this opportunity to slowly work his way backwards into the trees at the edge of the clearing. Right now the Gligar had air superiority, and he aimed to take away any hopes he had.

Meanwhile Smaug and Thunda' continued their attack. Smaug intercepted the incoming dragon breath in oder to cover his teammate. Thunda' took this opportunity to do one final Bulk Up before he began his charge at the Bagon. With a couple of Bulk ups on more Ice Punch should surly be enough to KO the Rock Headed dragon. As Thunda' charged in, darting side to side to dodge any incoming attacks, Smaug began launching Smokecreens at the Bagon in oder to hinder its vision and ensure his partner's success. Only one question remained for Amanda's team, where was Harold?

Gligar started to fly away from his opponent, putting some distance away from the trees by returning to the center of the clearing. He knew better than to lose an advantage by flying into the trees. The Fly Scorpion had an advantage in the clear skies while in the forest, his mobility would be limited. Just as long as he kept dodging the Shadow Balls, he'll be fine. As Gligar looked around his battles, he now noticed the smoke down on the clearing. Knowing that Bagon must not be doing well, he started to unleash a Poison Sting attack on the Magmar.

Bagon was consumed by the smoke, trying his best to see. The Rock Head Pokémon started to blast out Dragon Breath attacks, hoping to push his attackers away. However, by the time he heard the footsteps, it was too late as the fist connected coldly to his side, knocking him further into the smoke. Bagon had not fainted yet, but he could not find the energy to fight anymore given how cold it is. He tried to lift himself off from the ground, but could not. He could not fight anymore.

Harold entered the clearing, the smoke covering him from the bounty hunter and her Pokémon. He held back a cough as he pulled up his bandana. He saw Gligar in the sky earlier, but Bagon was still missing. The smoke blinded him, and Harold realized his mistake of coming back. This was no fair fight, and Harold was the one at the disadvantage. Still, he had to do this. If he did not fight now, he would spend the rest of his life running. He had to stand his ground.

"Bagon!" Harold called out, slowly swinging the grappling hook as he prepared for a fight. "If you can hear me, follow my voice. For once in my life, I'm not going to be selfish and run away." He stopped whispering to himself, and started shouting. "For once in my damned life, I'm going to stand my ground and fight! You hear that, you crazy bitch?! I'm not scared! Now, come and fight me!"

As Harold walked deeper into the smoke, Bagon heard all of Harold's words, and knew instantly he had to get up. The Rock Head Pokémon was not going to let his trainer fight alone. It was his job to look after him, not the other way around. Once again, Bagon tried to lift himself off the ground, but fell back down. He closed his eyes in concentration, ready to do whatever it takes to keep up the fight. Slowly, a white glow is seen from within the smoke as he starts to evolve.
